As we all know, attracting listeners to your radio station is difficult. Though, it’s even harder when listeners cannot actually find your radio station. In a world that’s thriving on the use of 3G/4G technologies, internet radio is one of the easiest and most accessible ways to listen to the radio in the modern-day. To create an authhash, in order to be listed in the SHOUTcast directory, follow our simple instructions below.

1. Login to Centova, navigate to Settings, then click the ‘Server Overrides’ tab and change the status for ‘Public Server’ to ‘Always’ – this will ensure your server remains publicly listed.
2. Restart your server to ensure your altered configuration is confirmed.
3. It is now time to create your authhash, which provides SHOUTcast with all the information they require to display your station. To do this, navigate to ‘Quick Links’. You then need to access your SHOUTcast DNAS page, the URL for this is listed under ‘Your streaming server index page’.
4. Once you’ve found your SHOUTcast Server Status page, you need to login by clicking the ‘Server Login’ button. You will then be presented with a login window, simply use the username ‘admin’ alongside your standard administrator password for Centova.
5. Once logged in, you will see an option to ‘Create Authhash’ – simply populate the fields with the required information and click ‘Save’.

Once this has been done, your authhash will be verified with the SHOUTcast directory and you’ll be published very soon. Any issues with your authhash will display in your SHOUTcast Server Status page.

This is only one of the hundreds of internet radio directories that allows your radio station to be visible to your audience. It is entirely optional and shall not affect how your stream interacts with your listeners.
